Songs to make you run faster

I don’t listen to music very often when I’m running. I usually like to take in my surroundings, listen to the birds and try to spot wildlife.

But when I do listen to music I find I run a little bit faster so it’s a really useful tool for me when doing speedwork.

A lot of runners playlists tend to focus on beats per minute which tends to mean dance tracks. I’m more of a 50s and 60s gal so I thought I’d do my own.

Here are six songs that make me run faster. They are by contemporary bands who have a 50s or 60s sound who are usually found on my playlists. These songs make me want to dance, to sing and make me run fast!

Ray Collins’ Hot Club Run Brother, Run

Anything by Ray Collins will get me on the dance floor, as well as get me running faster. See also Yeah, Yeah Baby You’re Right, Barefoot and Bechstien Stomp

 

Imelda May Wild Woman

I think I prefer some of her slower songs but this is a good song to run to.

 

Kings of Nuthin’ Only Time

This is one band I would have liked to see play live but never got the chance. Most of their songs are fast and furious  and are great to run to.

 

J D McPherson Scandalous

Slightly slower than the other songs on this list but fun.

 

 

King Salami and the Cumberland Three Prissy Missy

A great song that reminds me of when I first started running, out in the dark and cold running through the village trying not to sing along.

 

Royal Crown Review The Contender

A noir boxing film condensed into 3 minutes 25 seconds. Best listened to after watching Body and Soul, a fantastic boxing film, with James Garfield and the sultry Hazel Brooks.
