Day 17 of Juneathon and I marshaled my first race!
My club holds a fun run each year which has events for all ages, from under 5s running 100m to a 6k adult race. It’s a really nice event which raises money for a local hospice and completely relies on volunteers to make it happen each year.
So I volunteered to be a marshal for the adult race. I was given a rather fetching yellow tabard and given the task of stopping cars from turning into roads as the people were running across. All the cars were patient in waiting, even though it was prime commuter time.
I saw a number of runners from my bridging group and cheered them on their way. The event was over quicker than I anticipated and my marshaling was over and done with in 45 minutes.
I’m really glad I volunteered and recommend it. I’ll definitely do so again.
I’m not sure that marshaling quite counts for a Juneathon activity, so I did some yoga this morning to make sure I got my Juneathon exercise in.
