Weekly roundup

This was the second to last week of my half marathon training. After running my longest run of 12 miles the week before it is now taper time, according to most of the training plans I have read.

So rather than going to my club run on Wednesday I decided to do a short 30 minute run near my house. So off I went in the dark, the first time for a long while that I have ran in the dark on my own.

It was a great run. The sky was clear and the moon was huge so I didn’t need to use my head torch. There were owls hooting and flying about and it just made me think back to when I first started running in the dark of January. I finished the run feeling very pleased with how far I have progressed since then.

I ran 3.15 miles in 32:55.

Saturday, however, was a different story. I decided to do intervals of 3 minutes running at threshold followed by 3 at a steady pace but as soon as I started I got a stitch! I still managed 4 repeats which wasn’t too bad but I’ve learnt that running after a big brunch is not a good idea, even if I wait for 3 hours for the food to digest.

In total I ran 3.2 miles in 30:21 so slightly faster than Wednesday but not as enjoyable.

I followed this with a steady, slightly longer run on Sunday morning. It really felt autumnal, with lots of mist and dew covered cobwebs everywhere.

A pleasant 4.19 miles in 44:12

Over all a good week running and I think I’m in a good place for next week.

Doughnuts and some running

Doughnuts and some running

This week was rather fun. I only managed two runs but I really enjoyed them, plus I got to the gym. So Monday I went to my Pilates class. I do miss it when I can’t go, even though some of the moves are really hard and I ache afterwards. This week wasn’t so bad…

End of November

End of November

I’ve not done a weekly roundup since finishing my Trailffest training. To be honest I’ve not been that regular with my runs or workouts since the start of October. I’ve still managed at least two runs a week but these have been shorter ones with the Start to Run course and my lunchtime running…
