Juneathon day 3

Juneathon Day 3

Today I lead the Bridging Group at my running club for the first time.

As I’m now a qualified running leader, thanks to my LiRF course, I thought I should put my learning into practice as soon as possible and threw myself into the deep end by volunteering to lead.

The Bridging Group is the group for people who recently did our start to run course, have just started to run or who are returning to running after injury. We generally start off at 3 miles on road and slowly build up to 6 miles off road. It’s a really good group and very encouraging. Eventually as people build confidence and stamina they move to our faster groups and it’s really nice to see people improve.

So yesterday evening I sat down and planned the session. I had already been sent the 4 mile route so I studied it carefully as the last thing I want is to lose people! I also made sure I knew what I was doing for both the warm up and cool down, I didn’t want to forget anything!

I was a bit nervous beforehand but it went really well. I didn’t lose anyone, the faster people waited at key points for everyone and it was a good atmosphere. The gorgeous weather and beautiful scenery helped too.

I’m really looking forward to leading the group over the next few weeks.

Doughnuts and some running

Doughnuts and some running

This week was rather fun. I only managed two runs but I really enjoyed them, plus I got to the gym. So Monday I went to my Pilates class. I do miss it when I can’t go, even though some of the moves are really hard and I ache afterwards. This week wasn’t so bad…

End of November

End of November

I’ve not done a weekly roundup since finishing my Trailffest training. To be honest I’ve not been that regular with my runs or workouts since the start of October. I’ve still managed at least two runs a week but these have been shorter ones with the Start to Run course and my lunchtime running…
