World Vegan Day

happy vegan day

If you don’t know 1st November is World Vegan Day. Why this date? Because the Vegan Society was formed in November 1944, which makes 2014 its 70th anniversary.

It’s amazing to think in the middle of the second world war people were not only thinking of how to plan the ‘new Jerusalem’ for people, which would eventually lead to the NHS and a promise not to go back to the poverty and uncertainty of the 1930s, but also trying to ensure the new Jerusalem showed compassion to all living things, including the animals.

After World Vegan Day November becomes World Vegan Month, so if you have been thinking of trying a vegan diet this is the perfect time. To make it easy for you  Animal Aid has a 30 day Vegan Challenge which starts on 1st November. This challenge gives you support, recipes, ideas and giveaways to help you on your way to becoming vegan. The Vegan Society also has an ongoing Vegan Pledge which you can take for 7 or 30 days.

Now I’m going to celebrate by eating a large slice of vegan cake!

End of November

End of November

I’ve not done a weekly roundup since finishing my Trailffest training. To be honest I’ve not been that regular with my runs or workouts since the start of October. I’ve still managed at least two runs a week but these have been shorter ones with the Start to Run course and my lunchtime running…
